Chalchuapa's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Fantasmas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-5 record. Chalchuapa lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Fantasmas are looking forward to face Santiagueno (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. In the last two games of round 16 Santiagueno was smashed by Santa Tecla on the road 91-72. Santa Ana won against El Rapido on its own court 98-92.

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Santa Tecla (8-5) crushed at home 9th ranked Santiagueno (1-11) 91-72 on Sunday. They outrebounded Santiagueno 57-35 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Luis Escoto (180-96) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Luis Portal (188-86) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard EJ Blackwell (193, college: Lourdes) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists and his fellow American import Xavier Eaglin (201-97, college: PVAMU) added 26 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks in the effort for Santiagueno. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place. Santiagueno lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Santa Tecla are looking forward to face league's second-placed San Salvador on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Very expected game when 8th ranked El Rapido (2-11) lost on the road to fourth ranked Santa Ana (9-4) 98-92 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Santa Ana made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Maurice Taylor (198-94, college: Niagara) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Taylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American Reggie Baker (193-93, college: BCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Puerto Rican center Giovanny Martinez (206, college: Jarvis Christian) added 15 points and 15 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for El Rapido. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santa Ana moved-up to third place. El Rapido lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
